Basketball Celebrates Senior Day

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Cedar Crest College basketball ended their 2016-2017 campaign with a 78-43 loss against Cairn University in a Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.

The Cairn University Highlanders would take an early 22-6 lead against the Falcons in the first quarter. Going into halftime, Cedar Crest trailed Cairn 16-36. The Falcons added another 11 points to the Highlanders' 21 in the third quarter. Cedar Crest ultimately fell 78-43 to Cairn. 

Freshman Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) had a team high of 19 points and five steals. She also brought down four rebounds for the Falcons. Sylera Weller (Lancaster, Pa./J.P . McCaskey), a freshman, tallied 11 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Freshman Venus Cabrera (Reading,Pa./Bucks Catholic) netted eight points and brought down a total of five rebounds. 

The Falcons celebrated senior Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) who has been a part of the basketball team for four years and served as captain for two. In the past four years, Osley has played in 97 games, tallied 181 assists, 124 steals, and 793 points. She has led in minutes played for Cedar Crest as well as been ranked amongst NCAA Division III for minutes played. During her 2016-2017 campaign, she was listed on four of the statistical categories for the Falcons, averaging 9.9 points per game and led the team in assists with a total of 49, in steals with 27 as well as knocking down 24 three-pointers. In 2015, she was named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team. Osley also played on the field hockey team for two years.
