Box Score GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College basketball team set out on their first of third road game at Gwynedd Mercy University where the Falcons kept paced with the Griffins, but a setback in the second quarter would lead to a 64-52 loss.
The Falcons trailed by four at the end of the first quarter, 18-14, digging their way out from a 9-0 run by the home team. Sophomore guard
Tenille Stewart (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) knocked down a three pointer to get the Falcons on the board. Four points from senior guard
Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) put the team within a six point reach and with a late foul added two free throws at end of the quarter to trail by four points. Cedar Crest couldn't connect to outscore their opponent in the second quarter and trailed 32-20 at halftime.
In the third quarter both teams scored 14 points,
Osely scored seven of those points, while freshman guard/forward
Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) scored five. In the fourth quarter,
Cabrera would score 14 of the teams 18 points of the quarter, but matching in points for the second straight quarter allowed Gwynedd Mercy the win, 64-52.
Osely netted a team-high of 21 points, three rebounds and one assist while
Cabrera had 20 points, seven rebounds and one assist.
Stewart and freshman guard
Sylera Weller (Lancaster, Pa./J.P . McCaskey) both added four points, and four rebounds while
Stewart had six rebounds with
Weller grabbing two boards.
The next game for Cedar Crest is on Saturday, February 11 at 1:00 p.m. in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match-up at Neumann University.
