Box Score RADNOR, Pa. - The Cedar Crest College field hockey team lost 3-0 to fellow Colonial States Athletic Conference member Cabrini University on Saturday afternoon.
The Cavaliers jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the first half, scoring a goal in the third minute, just outside the reach of sophomore goalie Cassandra Reijgers (Hollis, NH/Hollis Brookline). The Falcons attempted to answer back with freshman Mercedes Melo (Lehighton, Pa./Palmerton Area) taking three penalty corners in a row. Off the last corner, freshman Ally Arabio (Egg Harbor, N.J./Egg Harbor ) got a shot off, but Cabrini came up with the save. After another corner taken by Melo, freshman Annalise Unger (Burlington, VT /Rice Memorial ) shot, missing just wide of the goal.
In the second half at the 41st minute mark, the Cavaliers fired off three shots in a row, each being saved by Reijgers. However, Cabrini found the back of the net after shooting a loose ball off of a rebounded save. After going back and forth on the field, the Cavaliers scored again shooting just past Reijgers. Reijgers tallied five saves for the second half.
The Falcons travel to Wilson College on September 27 in a non conference matchup. The game is set to begin at 5:00 PM.
