Box Score CHICOPEE, Mass.- The Cedar Crest College field hockey team defeated the Bay Path Wildcats 6-0 in a non conference matchup on Saturday afternoon, improving to 5-3 on the season.
Freshman forward Ally Arabio (Egg Harbor, N.J./Egg Harbor ) was first to score in the shut-out off of an assist from freshman midfielder Annalise Unger (Burlington, VT /Rice Memorial ), pushing the ball right past the goalie in the first 10 minutes of play. After a penally corner taken by freshman Mercedes Melo (Lehighton, Pa./Palmerton Area), senior midfielder Elizabeth Lamm (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) netted the second goal off of a pass on the circle by senior midfielder Hannah Gouck (Kintnersville, PA/Palisades). In the 20th minute of play, Melo scored the third goal for the Falcons. In the final goal of the first half, Gouck teamed up with sophomore midfielder Makenzie Kistler (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) to nail the fourth goal straight past the Wildcat goalie.Â
In the second half, Arabio tallied the fifth goal in the 40th minute of play off an assist by Kistler. Freshman forward Brenna Desborough (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan ) scored the sixth and final insurance goal for the Falcons, also landing her first collegiate goal. Freshman forward Brice Gardner (Gardners, Pa./Biglerville ) would add the assist.
The next match is on the road for the Falcons as they take on non conference Becker College on October 1. The game is set to begin at 12:00 PM.
