Soccer Stumbles Against Centenary

9/30/2017 2:41:00 PM

Box Score ALLENTONW, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College soccer team hosted to Centenary University (NJ) in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match-up at the FalconPlex on Saturday afternoon where the Falcons fell, 4-0.

"Centenary came out of the gates hard and pushed until the end," commented Head Coach Sarah Wolcott. "It's the same the same old story…we made mistakes and a good team capitalized them. I thought we had a fiery first half, but came out flat in the second. We had great moments, but we need to put together a full 90 minutes to get the result we want."

The Falcons jumped out the gate with a shot 38 seconds into the game by freshman forward Erika D'Angelo (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial ) that was saved by the goalkeeper. After a plethora a loose ball was knocked in to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead.  Freshman forward Daria Warner (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) got the next shot for the team, but again the goalkeeper got behind it to make a save. The visitor took a 2-0 lead, in the 34th minute, but freshman midfielder Adrianna Tennis (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove ) looked to cut the lead with her shot just before the half, but the keeper made another save.

D'Angelo had her second shot of the game in the 69th minute of the game while the goalkeeper made yet another save. The final shot of game came off the foot of senior midfielder Jackalyn Beckett (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) that went just wide of the target. The Cyclones managed to knock in two more goals to finish with a final score of 4-0. Junior goalkeeper Morgan Maddock (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial High School) made four saves in the first half while sophomore goalkeeper Cara Montanye (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush Central ) made eight saves in the second half.

The team gets back on the field when they host Immaculata University on Tuesday, October 3 at 5:00 p.m. at the FalconPlex.
