Weller Nets 22 Points in CSAC Loss on Coaches vs. Cancer Night

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College women's basketball squad suffered a loss to Centenary University, 63-45, to drop to 3-16 on the year and 2-10 in conference play after Wednesday night's game.

Sophomore guard Sylera Weller (Lancaster, Pa. /J.P. McCaskey) paced the Falcons, scoring 22 points in the game, adding six rebounds and two steals. Also finishing in double figures was Senior center Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM / Cliff ), who ended the contest with 10 points, three rebounds two steals and a block while sophomore forward Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa. /Berks Catholic) contributed five points, two assists and a steal.

Senior forward Shemeca Thompson (Bridgeport, CT/Warren Harding) and freshman guard Natasha Barber (Dallas, TX/Ranchview) each netted three points from the foul line in the contest. Thompson grabbed eight boards and a blocked shot while Barber brought down three rebounds for the Black and Yellow.

Sophomore forward Venus Cabrera (Reading, Pa. /Berks Catholic) ended the night with two points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals while  Khnaue Robinson (Newark, N.J./Great Oaks Legacy Charter) added two assists and a rebound.

The Falcons scored eight points in the opening 10 minutes of action, as the Cyclones doubled them up to score 16. Cedar Crest held Centenary to 12 points in the second quarter, but the Falcons were well-defended and scored five points. Going into halftime, Cedar Crest trailed the Cyclones 28-12.

Following the intermission, the Black and Yellow netted 12 points, with Centenary scoring 16 points to put the score at 44-25. Heading in the final quarter, Cedar Crest mustered to score 20 points, with Rosemont dropping 19 to put the final score at 63-45 as the Falcons fell to the Cyclones.

Cedar Crest hits the road for the final time this season, as they travel to Cairn University. Tip-off is slated for 1 pm in Langhorne, Pa.
