Thompson Earns First Double-Double of the Season as Falcons Fall to Valley Forge

Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College women's basketball team fell in a non-conference contest to the University of Valley Forge Tuesday evening. The Falcons are now 3-20 on the year, with a 2-13 mark in CSAC play.

Sophomore guard Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) ended the contest in double-figures, netting 18 points and dishing out a team-high nine assists. Cabrera also had five rebounds and a blocked shot. Senior forward Shemeca Thompson (Bridgeport, CT/Warren Harding) recorded a double-double, her first of the season, with 12 points and 10 rebounds while adding three assists, one blocked shot and a steal.  Sophomore guard

Sylera Weller (Lancaster, Pa./J.P . McCaskey) rounds out the double-figure scorers for the Black and Yellow, scoring 11 points, sinking two three-pointers, swiping a game-high five steals, grabbing four rebounds and two assists.

Sophomore forward Venus Cabrera (Reading,Pa./Berks Catholic) contributed eight points with eight rebounds and a block while senior center Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff ) finished the game with a team-high two blocks, three boards and a steal. Freshman guard Khnaue Robinson (Newark, N.J./Great Oaks Legacy Charter) ended the night with four steals, four rebounds, three assists and two points.

The opening quarter was well-played by both teams, but the Patriots' scored 13 points to Cedar Crest's 9, so Valley Forge had the four-point edge after the first 10 minutes, by a score of 13-9. The Falcons fought hard in the 2nd quarter as well, scoring 12 points to Valley Forge's 17, but Cedar Crest was still trailing by nine points heading into the intermission, 30-21.

Coming out of the locker room, the Black and Yellow netted 15 points, but Valley Forge managed to score 23 points to put the score at 53-36, in favor of the Patriots. In the final quarter, the Falcons netted 19 points, but Valley Forge matched that to hand Cedar Crest a, 72-55, loss.
