ROSEMONT, Pa. --- Juniors
Sarah Nawrocki (Minersville, Pa./Minersville) and
Daria Warner (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) of the Cedar Crest Soccer team were recognized by the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) as Honorable Mentions for their contributions last week.
Cedar Crest went 2-0 last week, posting a pair of shutouts in a 8-0 win over the College of Saint Elizabeth and then defeated Notre Dame of Maryland University 2-0. The Falcons improve to 10-4 overall and remain unbeaten in Conference play, at 6-0.
Nawrocki was on the Falcons back line that continues to shutout their CSAC opponents.
Nawrocki also scored her first collegiate goal of her career in the 2-0 win over Notre Dame, scoring the Game-Winning Goal. She took the ball from the defensive end and dribbled up the entire field to score in the 52nd minute. "
Nawrocki played so well for us and was a huge for us in the back," stated Head Coach
Sarah Wolcott. The Falcons opposition only took 5 shots this past week and none made it past the goalkeeper as Cedar Crest recorded its sixth and seventh shutout of the year.
Warner continues to rack up points in CSAC competition, tallying 9 points this past week. The Falcons put up an 8-spot on Saint Elizabeth, with
Warner recording three assists and scoring twice for a total of 7 points. In the game,
Warner broke three school records: goals in a season, points in a season, and career points in the victory. "I'm so happy for Daria for breaking the school record for goals in a season. She has worked so incredibly hard this season and tonight was no different. She did a good job of staying composed and finishing her chances," concluded
Coach Wolcott. She would then score a goal in the 62nd minute in the contest against Notre Dame in the 2-0 win.
Warner leads the CSAC in goals and points, and is a co-leader in Game-Winning Goals.
Cedar Crest will be back in action on Tuesday, October 22 when they host Centenary University in a rematch of the 2018 CSAC Championship game. The Falcons and Cyclones are the only undefeated teams in the conference and will go head-to-head on Tuesday night. The game is set for 7:00 PM at the FalconPlex.
