Falcons conclude 2018-19 season with Think Pink Game and loss to Rosemont

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Basketball season came to an end this afternoon, as the Falcons fell to Rosemont College in a 47-82 loss on the College's Think Pink Game. Prior to the start of the game, both Rosemont and Cedar Crest took time to dedicate today's contest and to honor those whom are no longer with us, those who are fighting, and those who are survivors.

"Overall, it was a great season for us, we doubled our overall wins from last year and earned three more conference wins, we're continuing to improve," commented Head Coach Kristin Karat.

The Falcons conclude the campaign with a record of 6-19 and a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) record of 5-11. A high energy first quarter for the Falcons had them go back and forth for the first five minutes of the half, with the Black and Yellow going toe-to-toe with the Ravens. Rosemont began to extend the lead in the late in the first and had the Falcons down 11-22 after 10 minutes.

Rosemont began to pull away with a strong second quarter effort, holding the Black and Yellow to four points and put up 24 of their own going into the half, 15-46. Cedar came out firing, returning from the locker room and scoring 19 third quarter points to the Ravens 21. Rosemont would outscore the Falcons 13-15 in the fourth, putting the final score at 47-82, to end the 2018-19 Basketball season.

"I thought we played a great first quarter, I thought our kids executed our game plan to a T, continued Coach Karat. "We had Rosemont rattled in the first quarter, but Rosemont is a great team and we just couldn't sustain it."

Leading Cedar Crest in scoring was junior Mackenzie Borger (Kresgeville, Pa./Pleasant Valley), who netted 14 points, three rebounds and an assist. Also scoring in double-figures was graduate student Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff ), who tossed in 13 points and a team-high eight boards, to go with four blocked shots to set the school record of blocks in a season at 61. Gregory also had an assist to add to the stat sheet.

Sophomore Khnaue Robinson (Newark, N.J./Great Oaks Legacy Charter) and freshman Tania Bryant (Willingboro, N.J./Doane Academy) each added six points for the Black and Yellow. Robinson had a team-high three steals, an assist and a rebound as Bryant contributed a team-high three assists and three boards. Both sophomore Natasha Barber (Dallas, TX/Ranchview) and freshman Amiyah Peters (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) hit three-point shots to give them their points in today's game. Barber grabbed two rebounds and had an assist as Peters added two helpers, a steal and a rebound.

Also making the scorer's column was junior Venus Cabrera (Reading,Pa./Berks Catholic), who scored two points, brought down five rebounds and dished out an assist. Sophomore Jada Garrett (Dallas, TX/Ranchview) had four rebounds and a steal as freshman Tiesha Fortune-Saunders (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) grabbed three boards and had an assist.

"This was a great year and I am sad that it is over. I didn't want this season to end, but it has to and I am proud of them," added Coach Karat. "Every single one of them got better, every single one of them grew up this year, and every single one of them became a huge part of our program no matter what role that they played."

"I am excited to have my entire team returning and so I'm excited for what we can build for next year," concluded Coach Karat.
