ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College basketball team suffered a 62-40 loss to Clarks Summit University to begin Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) competition on Tuesday evening at Lees Gymnasium.
The teams would go back and forth in the opening quarter and were deadlocked at 10 at the end of one. The Lady Defenders would begin to pull away, outscoring the Falcons 19-11 in the second frame to carry a 30-22 lead into the half. Clarks Summit continued the strong play and would extend its advantage to as many as 28 in the second half with a 20-5 third quarter. The teams were then again even in the final quarter, 14-14, for the 62-40 final.
Senior Elizabeth Singleton (Schenectady, N.Y.) paced the Lady Defenders with 18 points to go along with nine rebounds, one assist, and three steals. Graduate student Torri Laman (Selinsgrove, Pa.) followed with a double-double of 10 points and 11 boards while Alison Aten (Streesboro, Ohio) rounded out the visitors in double figure scoring with 10 points to go along with four rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal.

Ashley Wilson (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) guided the Falcons with 14 points, three rebounds, and three steals. Classmate
Megan Peifer (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) followed with 11 points, five caroms, and two assists while junior
Kelly Reid (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) finished with seven points, four rebounds, and two helpers. Freshmen
Francess Suah (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution ) and
Rachel Bilger (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Dublin) closed out the scoring with four points apiece.
Cedar Crest (1-2 overall, 0-1 CSAC) will remain home to host Cairn University on Saturday, November 27 at 1:00 p.m. Clarks Summit (3-1 overall, 1-0 CSAC) will stay on the road for a non-conference tilt at Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday, November 20.
