Field Hockey Finishes as Runner-Up, Drops CSAC Championship Game to Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The No. 3 seeded Cedar Crest College field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 1 seed Wilson College in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship game on Saturday afternoon, the first appearance in the Championship game in program history.

The Phoenix grabbed the lead in the fifth minute on a goal from sophomore Hayley Koller (Atglen, Pa.). Fifth-year Michaela Singer (Annville, Pa.) was credited with the helper.

The second and third stanzas featured no scoring as Wilson outshot the Falcons 5-1 over the two frames.

The Phoenix tallied two more goals in the final quarter for the 3-0 final. Junior Alexis Pflumm (Camden, Del.) netted the first off an assist from junior Abigail Rosenberry (Shippensburg, Pa.) while fifth-year Allison Reber (Narvon, Pa.) rounded out the scoring with a goal in the 57th minute.

Wilson outshot Cedar Crest 19-2 on the afternoon and had 11 penalty corners to the Falcons' three. 

The Falcons' freshman goalkeeper Brynn Rifino (Dover, Del./Smyrna) made nine saves. Wilson fifth-year goalkeeper Krista Nayadley (Hampton, Va.) did not face a shot on goal in the game.
