Basketball Stumbles at Rosemont

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College basketball team dropped a 68-52 decision at Rosemont College on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action at Alumnae Hall.

Freshman Makaela Frey (York, Pa.) led all scorers with 18 points as the Ravens snapped a four-game losing streak and improved to 1-4 overall (1-3 CSAC). She went 5-for-10 from three-point range and was 1-for-2 at the free throw line, finishing the game with five rebounds, four assists, and one steal. Freshman Kaylee Alvarez (El Paso, Texas) added 11 points while freshman Aalyssa Rogers (Houston, Texas) chipped in a near double-double of nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Cedar Crest (1-6 overall, 0-4 CSAC) was led by senior Amiyah Peters (Plainville, Conn./Plainville), who finished with a season-high 15 points to go along with three rebounds and two steals. Junior Ashley Wilson (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) concluded with 13 points. She also registered six boards, six assists, and five steals. Classmate Kelly Reid (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) closed out the Falcons in double figures scoring with 10 points and tossed in three rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block.   

The Ravens held the Falcons to just 29-percent shooting (19-for-64) for the game and held a 56-36 rebounding advantage. Trailing 17-10 after the first quarter, Cedar Crest scored 17 points in the second stanza to the Ravens' 18 as Rosemont entered the intermission with a 35-27 lead.

The Ravens built its lead to as many as 18 in the second half before the game ended in the 68-52 final.

Cedar Crest will next play at Wilson College on Wednesday, December 8 at 7:00 p.m.
