LANGHORNE, Pa. - The Cedar Crest College tennis program suffered a 0-5 loss to Cairn University in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship match at the McCurdy Tennis Facility on Saturday afternoon.
For back-to-back seasons, the Falcons fall just short of claiming the CSAC title. In 2019, the Black and Yellow lost to the Highlanders 1-5, and now the Falcons suffered a 0-5 loss at the hands of Cairn.
The afternoon got underway with doubles action. Second doubles was the first flight to finish, where freshman
Isabel Sandone (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Township) and senior
Ashley Wilkins (Rochester, N.H./Spaulding) dropped their set, (2-8). The freshmen duo at first doubles,
Lily Spagnola (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) and
Katherine Franzone (), managed to take one point from the Highlanders, but lost the match (1-8). Senior
Katherine Naples (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire North) and freshman
Sam Henson (Waterbury, Conn./W.F. Keynor Technical) were paired up at third doubles and suffered a (2-8) loss. The Falcons were behind 0-3 heading into singles play.
Cairn and Cedar Crest had all six singles-flights underway, but the Highlanders only needed two more wins to claim the 5-0 win.
Sandone suffered a (1-6, 0-6) loss at third singles, then Spagnola fell at second singles (0-6, 1-6), which concluded the championship contest.
Cedar Crest ends their season with a record of 3-2Â overall.
