ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision to Drew University in non-conference action on Thursday night at the FalconPlex.
The Rangers struck first with a goal in the ninth minute from junior Maxine Lloyd (Little Silver, N.J.) for the lone marker of the first quarter.
Drew added to its advantage when senior Trisha Dominick (Brodheadsville, Pa.) found the back of the cage in the 23
rd minute. Lloyd was credited with the assist to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Rangers.
Sophomore Janelle Arch (Manahawkin, N.J.) made it 3-0 for Drew on an unassisted tally in the 25
th minute.
The Falcons got on the board when senior
Morgan Frantz (Brodheadsville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) netted her fourth goal of the season in the 30
th minute. Classmate
Emily Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) recorded the assist.
Senior Alexa Thomas (Williamstown, N.J.) registered the final goal for the Rangers in the 40
th minute while the helper went to Dominick.
Junior Olyvia Jackson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) made seven saves in the cage for Drew while first-year
Kendall Heiney (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) had three saves for the Falcons in the loss.
Cedar Crest had a slight edge in shots, 13-12, while the teams were even in corners with eight apiece.
Cedar Crest (6-8 overall) returns to the field on Wednesday, October 26 at home against William Paterson University in a 6:00 p.m. start. Drew (5-8 overall) will host Juniata College in a conference contest on Saturday, October 22 at 1:00 p.m.
