ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College basketball team was defeated by Rosemont College in a 70-61 final in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Alumnae Gymnasium.
The Falcons got out to a 18-13 lead after one quarter and carried a 36-28 advantage into the locker room.
The game tightened up on the second half. After the teams were even in the third quarter at 16 points apiece, the Ravens outscored Cedar Crest 27-9 in the final stanza to pull away for the nine-point final, 70-61.
First-year
Jordan McGhee (Copperas Cove, Texas/Copperas Cove) guided Cedar Crest with 18 points to go along with six rebounds, two assists, three steals, and a block. Classmate
Haivynn Kovach (Virginia Beach, Va./Churchland) contributed 16 points, five boards, and two assists. Senior
Ashley Wilson (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) was the final Falcon in double figures, collecting 15 points, 12 caroms, five assists, and two steals.
Graduate student Angel Ricks (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the Ravens with 17 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Makaela Frey (York, Pa.) added in 11 points, four boards, and two assists.
Cedar Crest (0-5 overall, 0-3 CSAC) will be idle until the turn of the New Year and will return to the court on Tuesday, January 3 at home against Wilson College at 6:00 p.m. Rosemont (1-5 overall, 1-2 CSAC) travels to Lancaster Bible College for a non-conference contest on Friday, December 9 at 6:00 p.m.
