Soccer Moves Onto United East Skye Division Semifinals; Tops Rosemont in Penalty Kicks

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The fifth-seeded Cedar Crest College soccer team advanced to the United East Conference-Skye Division semifinals, topping No. 4 seed Rosemont College, 2-0, in penalty kicks on Saturday afternoon at the Ravens Athletic Complex.

The contest made it through 110 minutes scoreless and went to penalty kicks. Rosemont held a 16-12 edge in shots and had three corner kicks to the Falcons' two. Junior Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) paced Cedar Crest with five shots. Classmate Linsey Nester (Mohrsville, Pa./Hamburg) had three. First-year Avery Kramer (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood Area) and senior Olivia Kelly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) each had a pair of shots, while first-year Brielle Davies (Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua) and junior MacKayla Reed (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area Senior) recorded one.

In the penalty kick portion of the contest, it started with a miss by the Ravens. Sophomore Lauren Davis (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) put the Falcons in front with a goal. After three straight misses, Reed made the shootout score 2-0 when she found the back of the net. Rosemont had one more opportunity in the shootout and missed as Cedar Crest came away with the victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) registered seven saves for the Falcons while first-year Emily Rossino (Blackwood, N.J.) made five stops for Rosemont.

Cedar Crest (4-4-7 overall) moves onto the United East Conference-Skye Division semifinals against top-seeded Bryn Athyn College on Tuesday, October 31. The match time is to be determined.
