Field Hockey Begins United East Conference Tournament at Home Against Wilson Wednesday

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team will begin its quest for the United East Conference Championship as the No. 2 seed and will host third-seeded Wilson College in a semifinal matchup on Wednesday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m.

The Falcons and the Phoenix will square off in a rematch from a game played on October 28, where Cedar Crest came out on top, 1-0. Senior Adriana Hinkle's (Palmerton, Pa./Homeschooled (played for Lehighton)) fourth quarter penalty stroke goal was the difference as the Falcons prevailed in the victory. First-year goalkeeper Kadee Schrader (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) made a game-high 12 saves for Cedar Crest.  

The Falcons come into the contest with a 5-12 overall record and concluded United East play with a 2-1 mark. Wilson enters the semifinal contest with a 9-5 overall record and finished conference action with a 1-2 mark.

Hinkle leads Cedar Crest with 13 points this season, coming on five goals and three assists.

First-year Kate Seymour (Churchton, Md.) finished the regular season as Wilson's leading goal-scorer with 10 goals and three assists for 23 points. Sophomore Paige Ney (Biglerville, Pa.) and junior Brea Kelso (Shippensburg, Pa.) joined Seymour in double-digit points with 20 and 12, respectively.

The Falcons are expected to turn to first-year goalkeeper Kadee Schrader (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area), who has played in all 17 games, making 12 starts. She has compiled a record of 5-10 with a 2.47 goals-against average, 123 saves, and .794 save percentage. Schrader ranks first in the conference in save percentage and saves per game (7.24).

Juniors Lauren Jackson (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) and Zakiyyah Sabir (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia E&T) rank second on Cedar Crest in goals with two apiece. Graduate student Emily Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) has a goal and an assist. First-year Gianna Alton (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial), first-year Avery Daku (Northampton, Pa./Catasauqua), sophomore Kylah Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township), and sophomore Olivia Wanner (Lyons, Pa./Kutztown Area) each have a goal on the season. Sophomore Olivia Horninger (Friedens, Pa./Northern Lehigh) has picked up a pair of assists, while senior Mira Carver (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon) has recorded one assist.

Wilson is expected to start senior Allyson Shindler (Manchester), who has started all 14 games for the Phoenix this season. She has a record of 9-5 on the season, with a 1.55 goals-against average and .722 save percentage. Shindler ranks second in the conference in goals-against average and leads the league in shutouts with three.
