WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Cedar Crest College swimming team edged out Gallaudet University, 91-90, and were defeated by Marymount University, 125-50 in an Atlantic East Conference meet on Saturday afternoon.
The meet began with the 200-yard medley relay and the team of junior
Madison Smith (Stockertown, Pa./Nazareth Area), first-year
Janelle Pratt (Landing, N.J./Roxbury), sophomore
Camila Gil (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury), and senior
Easton Ferry (Alburtis, Pa./Brandywine Heights) placed second in a time of 2:22.36.
Ferry was back in the pool for the 1000-yard freestyle and took third, clocking a time of 15:22.88.
Junior
Alyssa Reinhart (Easton, Pa./Easton) finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle, touching in 2:59.54.
First-year
Ariana Abazi () registered a fifth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 35.93 seconds.
Gil won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:24.20. Smith touched sixth with a time of 3:22.71.
Pratt took third in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking a time of 1:26.86.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Gil finished third with a time of 59.39 seconds. Reinhart followed in fifth (1:22.92).
Smith was the lone participant in the 100-yard backstroke and took fourth with a time of 1:31.38.
Ferry and Abazi finished two-three in the 500-yard freestyle. Ferry touched in 7:19.26 and Abazi recorded a time of 7:54.16.
Pratt took part in the 100-yard breaststroke and clocked a time of 1:29.67.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Gil, Ferry, Abazi, and Pratt finished second with a time of 2:04.21.
Cedar Crest (0-4-1 overall, 0-1-1 Atlantic East) will remain in conference action for its next meet on Saturday, November 16 against Immaculata University and St. Mary's College of Maryland. The meet will take place at Immaculata at 1:00 p.m.
