NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Cedar Crest College swimming team was defeated by John Jay College, 59-36, in a non-conference dual meet on Thursday night, winning five total events.
First-year
Maria Aragon (Albuquerque, N.M./Rio Grande) captured first place in the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing in 14:23.04. Senior
Alyssa Reinhart (Easton, Pa./Easton) took fourth (15:46.06).
Aragon paced the Falcons in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 2:37.56 and grabbing a second-place finish. First-year
Kaitlyn Cohen (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt) was fourth, swimming a time of 3:03.21.
Junior
Rylie Heusner (Scranton, Pa./Holy Cross) touched first in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 27.54 seconds. Sophomore
Madison Nadasi (Bushkill, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) followed in 29.89 seconds.
Cedar Crest went three-four in the 200-yard IM with first-year Nyasia Fernadez touching in 3:05.91 and junior
Krillhe Gonell (Bronx, N.Y./George Washington) in 3:43.53, respectively.
Nadasi guided the Falcons in the 100-yard butterfly, placing second in 1:20.73. Fernandez was fourth (1:26.28).
Heusner won the 100-yard freestyle, registering a time of 1:00.52. Reinhart followed in fourth with a time of 1:26.40.
Cohen recorded a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 1:25.45. Gonell took fourth (1:54.98).
Aragon won her second event of the night, capturing first place in the 500-yard freestyle in 7:01.31. Reinhart also swam in the event, finishing fourth (8:07.84).
Heusner tied for first place in the 100-yard breaststroke, as first-year Aydan Damirova (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Heusner recorded the exact same time (1:15.15). Fernandez was fourth (1:43.16).
In the final event of the night, Gonell, Cohen, Nadasi, and Fernandez clocked a time of 2:12.34 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Cedar Crest (1-5 overall) will return to the pool on Friday, November 21 at the Electric City Invitational hosted by Marywood University. Day one action will begin at 5:00 p.m.
