CAMDEN, N.J. – The Cedar Crest College tennis team opened its 2025-26 season with a 7-0 loss to Rutgers University-Camden on Saturday.
The Scarlet Raptors began the match with a sweep of doubles play to win the point. Sophomore
Raury Barnard (Elkton, Md./Northeast) and junior
Grace Huff (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) were defeated by first-years Bella Albert (Greenwich, N.J.) and Gabby Albert (Greenwich, N.J.) at first doubles, 6-1. Junior
Cam Beverage (Taylor, Pa./Riverside) and graduate student
Gracelynn Pauley (New Oxford, Pa./South Western) dropped a 6-0 decision at No. 2 doubles. First-years
Jade Wilson () and
Kaitlyn Kelsey () were defeated by senior Katie Moore (West Deptford, N.J.) and first-year Leila O'Brien (Nassau, Bahamas), 6-0, at third doubles.
Rutgers-Camden went onto win five of the six singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Kelsey won three games in the second set at fifth singles before retiring in the match.
Cedar Crest (0-1 overall) will host Trinity Washington University on Saturday, October 4 at 1:00 p.m. in its home opener. Rutgers-Camden (3-0 overall) next welcomes in Eastern University on Saturday, September 26 at 3:30 p.m.
