Swimming Tripped Up By Messiah and Stevenson in Final Meet of Regular Season

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College swimming team suffered a pair of setbacks on Saturday, falling to the host Messiah University, 230-21 and to Stevenson University by a score of 203-36.

In the first event of the day, the team of first-year Kaitlyn Cohen (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt), junior Rylie Heusner (Scranton, Pa./Holy Cross), sophomore Madison Nadasi (Bushkill, Pa./East Stroudsburg North), and first-year Nyasia Fernandez (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) finished sixth in the 400-yard medley relay, recording a time of 5:20.70.

First-year Maria Aragon (Albuquerque, N.M./Rio Grande) and senior Alyssa Reinhart (Easton, Pa./Easton) went five-six in the 1000-yard freestyle, registering times of 14:11.18 and 15:28.05, respectively.

Aragon and Nadasi were back in the pool for the 200-yard freestyle with Aragon taking eighth (2:36.25) and Nadasi following in ninth (2:42.62).

Reinhart was the lone Falcon in the pool for the 100-yard backstroke, placing 10th in a time of 1:49.02.

Heusner finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching in 1:18.44.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Fernandez clocked a time of 32.86 seconds and Cohen finished in 32.86 seconds.

Nadasi was the only Cedar Crest participant in the 100-yard freestyle, collecting a time of 1:11.11.

Cohen took seventh in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 3:09.81.

Heusner finished sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching in 2:57.52.

Aragon paced the Falcons in the 500-yard freestyle, taking fifth in a time of 6:55.39 while Reinhart followed in seventh (7:43.77).

Nadasi was the lone represent 100-yard butterfly, finishing sixth with a time of 1:23.57.

In the 200-yard individual medley, Fernandez took eighth (3:06.24).

Heusner, Fernandez, Cohen, and Reinhart closed the day with a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, recording a time of 2:11.83.

Cedar Crest (1-9 overall) will now prepare for the Atlantic East Conference Championships starting on Thursday, February 12 at St. Mary's College of Maryland.
