LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College flag football team played its inaugural game in program history on Wednesday, falling to Cairn University in United East Conference play, 47-6.
The Highlanders built a 40-0 lead after three quarters.
The Falcons' lone touchdown came on a pass from first-year
Gigi Martin (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) to sophomore
Ginger Kerdock (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) in the fourth quarter.
Senior
Erika Butler (Philadelphia, Pa./String Theory Performing Arts) led Cedar Crest in passing yards, totaling 55 yards. Martin completed two passes for 32 total yards and a touchdown.
In the rushing department, Martin chipped in 38 yards on five attempts.
Kerdock paced the Falcons in receiving yards with three catches for 34 yards and a touchdown. Junior
Stephanie Macaluso (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) totaled two catches for 20 yards. Martin chipped in a catch for 22 yards while first-year
Hailey Wolbeck (Hemet, Calif./Western Center Academy) caught one pass for 11 yards.
On the defensive side, Kerdock and Martin each had two pass break-ups while Macaluso had one. Kerdock and junior
Analyse Rios (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek) recorded one interception each.
Cedar Crest (0-1 overall, 0-1 United East) will next play on Saturday, March 21 at Penn State Harrisburg. The Falcons will face Lancaster Bible College at 12:30 p.m. followed by a match-up with the host Lions at 2:00 p.m.
