Lizzy DeNunzio (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) for a 1-0 lead. First-year
Sarah Parsons (Brimfield, Mass./Tantasqua Regional) made six saves after the goal, including four during an 18:29-to-28:27 stretch that also included two Griffins' corner kicks. Cedar Crest reached halftime ahead 1-0.
The Falcons kept the Gwynedd Mercy scoreless through the rest of the match. Senior
Stephanie Macaluso (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) entered in goal at 63:54 and made four saves, including three during a six-shot Griffins stretch from 68:53 to 79:09. Cedar Crest also got a wide attempt from DeNunzio in the 67th minute and closed out the 1-0 win.
Chambers scored on her only shot and was credited with the game-winning goal for the Falcons. DeNunzio recorded an assist and added one shot. Parsons made six saves across 63:54 without allowing a goal. Macaluso added four saves in 26:06 and also did not allow a goal.
Junior Samantha Winco (Chalfont, Pa.) recorded a team-high two shots on goal among her three attempts for the Griffins. Senior Bridget Cannon (Bensalem, Pa.) also tied for the team lead with three shots and put one on goal. Sophomore Chloe Pennings (Williamsport, Pa.) played 45 minutes in goal without allowing a goal.
Cedar Crest (1-3-0 overall) next hosts Immaculata University on Saturday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m. Gwynedd Mercy (2-3-0 overall) will host the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg on Saturday at noon.
