The Cedar Crest College Athletic Department announced Kristin Karat as the Head Women's Basketball Coach in 2016, she also serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance, responsible for designing and implementing off season and in season strength and conditioning programs for all 9 of our varsity sports.
In her first season the Falcons saw and increase in win total over the previous season and five players named to the Academic All-Conference Team. Under her guidance the team earned a 3.0 GPA, the highest since 2008. The Falcons won back to back games for the first time since the 2008 season.
Karat began her coaching career in 2011 at Tufts University in Medford, Ma., helping lead the Jumbos to their first ever NESCAC championship. In her first season at Tufts, Karat helped coach the jumbos to the Sweet 16, the Defensive Player of the Year in the NESCAC, Two-All-NESCAC selections and Coach Berube was named Coach of the year. In the 2012-2013 campaign the Jumbos returned to the Sweet 16 and once again had the Defensive Player of the Year in the NESCAC, and One Academic All-American. In her last season at Tufts, Karat helped the Jumbos win the program’s first NESCAC Championship, and the school’s first Final Four appearance.
She spent the 2014-2015 season at Nichols College in Dudley, Mass. At Nichols, Karat was responsible for Strength and Conditioning, practice planning, video breakdown, and helped plan and organize the team’s trip to St. Thomas VI. Primarily working with the guards, Coach Karat help lead Senior Amber Litwinko to an All-CCC selection.A 2008 graduate of Becker College where she was an All-NAC selection and lead the program to its only NAC championship and NCAA appearance. Karat led the NAC in minutes played.
