Dr. Allen G. Snook Jr.

Dr. Allen Snook, Jr. came to Cedar Crest College in February 2015 after serving as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics at Division II Pfeiffer University for 13 years. He now leads the Falcons 10 NCAA Division III athletic programs, which includes over 140 student-athletes and oversees the College’s Wellness and Recreation activities.    During Dr. Snook’s short tenure, the Cedar Crest Athletic Department has seen tremendous growth. He has almost tripled the number of student-athletes with the 2018-2019 year being the largest athletic recruiting class in the College’s history. In addition to student athletes, Dr. Snook has doubled the number of full-time coaches and support staff in his department. All of this growth has been instrumental to the newfound success in the athletic department. Continuing to grow the department, diving, outdoor track and field have been added as varsity sports, and wrestling will begin in the fall of 2022. Since the focus has been adjusted to model Division III more closely, the Falcons have acquired more academic awards over the past three years than the previous nine years combined with a departmental GPA of 3.329. In addition to the success in the classroom, the athletic department has tripled the number of athletic awards being received compared to before Dr. Snook’s tenure and has tripled the departmental winning percentage over the past three seasons, including four conference championships, including the College's first-ever NCAA tournament wins. In his tenure as the Director of Athletics, his department has had 12 Coach of the Year awards, six Player of the Year awards, seven Rookie of the Year awards, two Institutional Academic awards, the D3 NCAA Diversity Spotlight Initiative award and eight of 10 teams have set new win records.  Dr. Snook has also been instrumental and an integral part of several facilities upgrades for the Falcons. In 2016, the Falcons fitness center was completely renovated with the addition of Keiser, Precor, and Escape functional equipment. The Rodale Aquatic Center was outfitted with a new Colorado System eight-lane scoreboard, new Colorado Six system, along with new lane lines and backstroke flags. Under Snook’s leadership, a new multi-purpose turf facility with lights and 6,000 square-foot field house finished construction in the spring of 2018. In addition, the tennis courts, basketball court, indoor locker rooms, grass practice field, and softball field have all experienced upgrades.

In addition to his Athletic Director duties, he also served as the Interim CSAC Commissioner from June through October 2021 managing the daily duties of the conference. Snook also serves on various campus committees and is currently the CSAC Executive Committee Past Chair, and Chair of the CSAC athletic trainers, men’s lacrosse, and softball groups. Dr. Snook also is an adjunct professor in both the exercise science and health science majors on campus.

In 2001, Snook graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pa., with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. He completed a master’s degree in Psychology from Shippensburg University of Pa. in 2002, and a Doctor of Health Science degree from AT Still University in 2012.
