Shelby Morgan began her coaching career at Cedar Crest College in 2015, being hired as the Head Volleyball Coach and Assistant Recreation Coordinator. Prior to taking the helm at Cedar Crest, Morgan served as a student assistant at Keystone College. She collaborated with the head coach to execute daily practice plans, developed detailed scouting reports and implemented effective game strategies. Morgan also organized community service activities for student-athletes.
Morgan, who won her second Coach of the Year in 2019, led the Falcons to their first-ever Conference Championship Game, finishing as the Runner-up, finishing the 2019 season with a 15-11 overall record and an 8-1 mark in CSAC competition. The Volleyball season was extended after the conference playoffs, as volleyball squad earned a ECAC Bid for another first in program history, where the Falcons fell in the first round.
In the 2018 season, Morgan led the Black and Yellow to a 18-8 record, breaking the most wins in a season from last year's 17 wins. Earning the Falcons' a playoff for the first time since 2012 and hosted a playoff game for the first time in school history. Cedar Crest claimed a CSAC Playoff win at home before falling in the CSAC Semifinals.
At the conclusion of the 2017 season, Morgan was named as the 2017 Coach of the Year of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC). She becomes only the third volleyball coach at Cedar Crest to receive this honor the previous coaches were from 2002 and 1998.Â
Morgan is was also a coach for a 17-and-under national team for East Coast Power Volleyball. In 2017, her team was ranked in the top 10 in the state of Pennsylvania, compiling a winning percentage of 61 percent. Earlier, Morgan was a volunteer coach with Northeast Alliance Volleyball in Scranton.
Morgan was a four year player for the Keystone Giants, where she was the all-time kill leader at Keystone after her final season. She served as a team captain, earned a Colonial State Athletic Conference All-Conference Honorable Mention and was an All-Sportsmanship honoree. She also organized a Dig Pink game and was an active member in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
Morgan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports and Recreation Management from Keystone College and received her Master’s Degree in Education at Cedar Crest.
