Allentown, PA - With their second overtime win of the season, Cedar Crest field hockey seems to be making the point that they can win any game if it just goes long enough. In a spine-tingler on Saturday against Wells College, it took two regulation halves, two overtime periods, and a ten-stroke penalty stroke-off before the Falcons could finally raise their arms in victory.

Catherine "OJ" Onjack (Bangor, PA/Bangor Area) was the hero of the day for finally converting the tenth stroke, giving Cedar Crest the 1-0 win. Cedar Crest sophomore Lindsay Harrison (Hanover, PA/Littlestown) was masterful in goal with 14 saves in 100:00 in the cage. She also successful rejected all of Wells' on-goal penalty strokes in the stroke-off.

For the game, Wells outshot the Falcons 25-17 and had a 12-10 edge in penalty corners but couldn't put anything past Harrison. Cedar Crest managed only six shots on goal. As the game wore on, through the first overtime and into the second, the excitement of the large and sun-dappled crowd began to build, rising and falling on each possession. When it finally came to strokes, and the teams took their places in a row before the goal, a complete silence fell over the crowd. With each successive stroke, the tension rose, until Onjack's flick to the left corner was true. The crowd finally erupted, and her teammates hoisted OJ off the ground in celebration. Onjack later commented that it was the first time she had ever played a game that came down to a stroke-off.

Cedar Crest is now 2-6 overall on the season. Wells drops to 0-5.

The Falcons have a week to gather themselves before traveling to Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday, September 25, to open conference play. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
