Road Loss for Cedar Crest at PBU

10/13/2011 10:12:00 PM

Langhorne, PA - On the road at Philadelphia Biblical University on Thursday, Cedar Crest suffered another three-and-out conference road loss. Though at times the Falcons played very well, they could not seem to find the missing ingredient to solve the Crimson Eagles' attack.

The first two sets followed similar patterns, with Cedar Crest sticking with or even leading the Eagles in the early going, before a late-game surge by PBU would doom the Falcons. In the first game PBU jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but Cedar Crest maintained their composure, chipped away at the deficit, and even took an 11-10 lead before a well-timed PBU timeout rallied the Eagles to a 25-17 final score. In the second set, the Falcons began with a 5-1 lead then went toe-to-toe with the Eagles, again leading by a score of 11-10, before PBU finished with a crushing 15-4 run to win 25-17. By the third set things got a little more one-sided, with Cedar Crest never able to establish a lead and falling by the score of 25-10.

Cedar Crest freshman Deb Lobien (Lehighton, PA, Lehighton) again led the team in sets with 12 and had nine digs. It was sister Jess Lobien (Lehighton, PA, Lehighton) who led the team in digs with 11, and who was tied in kills (five) with sophomore Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA, Tri-Valley). Wehry also had 10 digs.

Cedar Crest is now 7-11 overall and 1-6 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. PBU is 15-10 and 6-2 in the CSAC. Cedar Crest will host a tri-match on Saturday, October 15th, with CSAC opponent Cabrini College and non-conference opponent Wesley College. Cedar Crest will play Cabrini at 10:00 AM and Wesley at 2:00 PM. The two visitors will play each other here at Cedar Crest in the middle game at 12:00 PM.
