Allentown, PA - In a biting wind on Saturday and accented in pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Cedar Crest lost to Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Immaculata University by a score of 9-1.
Although there was plenty of action on both ends of the field, it was the Might Macs who got the best of the Falcons. The Macs' Kristin Yoder scored on a penalty stroke in the 11th minute to take the early lead. The Macs then scored two more to go up 3-0 before Cedar Crest sophomore Erin Studer (Kent, CT, Housatonic Valley Regional) scored on a feed from sophomore Brittany Hartman (Myerstown, PA, ELCO) late in the first half to put the Falcons on the board. Immaculata's Mary Beth Plastek added another goal just over a minute before the half to give the visitors a 4-1 advantage at halftime.
In the second half it was all IU, as Ashley O'Donnell scored two more for a hat trick on the day and three more goals gave the Macs the ultimate 9-1 victory. The Falcons were outshot by a bit, but junior goalie Lindsay Harrison (Hanover, PA, Littlestown) had 22 saves in a complete game to keep the Macs in single digits.
The Falcons are now 1-12 overall and 1-5 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, while Immaculata improves to 7-8 and 4-2 in the CSAC. On Thursday, October 20th, at 4:00 PM, Cedar Crest will play across the Lehigh Valley in Bethlehem at non-conference opponent Moravian College
