Cedar Crest Drops CSAC Game Versus Rosemont

Box Score

Allentown, PA - After five straight road games Cedar Crest finally got a breather, returning home for a Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup against the Ravens of Rosemont College on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, despite the welcoming confines of their home court, the Falcons struggled without their main scoring threat, senior center Lizzy Sunderhaus (Hamilton, OH/Stephen T. Badin). Sunderhaus was sidelined at Marywood on Saturday and has not yet been cleared to resume playing.

That Cedar Crest was not firing on all cylinders was apparent from the get go. The Falcons never led, and allowed the Ravens to race out to a 15 point lead within the first 5:00 of the game. Cedar Crest chipped away at the lead, but could get no closer than seven points throughout the first half. The halftime score was 42-29.

Cedar Crest played much better in the second half as both teams spent the half trading baskets, but Rosemont's lead remained around 15 points right up until the 72-55 final.

The Falcons shot somewhat poorly at 37.1%, but really struggled from beyond the arc where they were just 13.3% (2 of 15). They were also out-hustled on the glass, 30-24.

Freshman Mattie Hallquist (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) saw extra time in relief of Sunderhaus and performed well, leading Cedar Crest in scoring along with Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr). Each had 12 points, and Hallquist had seven boards.

The Ravens' Elizabeth Coyne had 21 points and Alexandra Gravinese had 12. Vanessa Johnson had 16 boards and Coyne had 12..

Cedar Crest drops to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the conference, while Rosemont improves to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the CSAC. The Falcons close out the first portion of their season at home with a CSAC matchup with Cabrini College on Saturday, December 10th, at 1:00 PM.
