Allentown, PA - While it was nice to improve their record on the season to 5-3, the Cedar Crest volleyball team's 3-0 win over visiting Bryn Athyn this evening had much more significance. With the win, Falcon Head Coach Kristin Maile celebrated her 200th career victory.
Maile's most recent coaching stop prior to Cedar Crest was at her alma mater, the University of Scranton, where she notched a 166-112 record. Tonight's win, her 34th since assuming the reins of the program at Cedar Crest, punched her ticket to the 200 win club.
Rebounding from the prior evening's loss at CSAC foe Gwynedd-Mercy, the Falcons made short work of the Lions with scores of 25-12, 25-22, and 25-21. Cedar Crest freshman Debra Lobien (Lehighton, PA, Lehighton) led all players with 30 assists, and freshman Becca Grady (Silver Spring, MD, Paint Branch) led all players with 13 kills. Freshman Kiersten Collins (Forest City, PA, Forest City Regional) led the Falcons with 13 digs, while Lobien, freshman Nikole Johnson (Ashley, PA, Holy Redeemer), and sophomore Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA, Tri-Valley) each had 11.
Cedar Crest is now 5-3 overall and 0-1 in the CSAC this season, while Bryn Athyn Drops to 1-4. The Falcons will now enjoy a brief respite before resuming CSAC play at Baptist Bible on Tuesday, September 20, at 7:00 PM.
