Homebody Falcons Notch First Road Win of the Season

9/27/2011 10:22:00 PM

Valley Forge, PA - While having some good success at home so far this year, Cedar Crest has been unable to find the winning formula on the road, losing their away matches so far by a combined score of nine sets to zero. Hopefully, the monkey is now off their back with a 3-0 road win at non-conference Valley Forge Christian College on Tuesday.

The Falcons cruised past the Patriots with set scores of 25-8, 25-12, and 25-9. Freshman Becca Grady (Silver Spring, MD, Paint Branch) led all players with eight kills on 10 attacks for a .700 hitting percentage, and also had 3 aces. Sophomore Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA, Tri-Valley) had seven kills and an also-impressive .429 percentage. Freshman Deb Lobien (Lehighton, PA, Lehighton) led all setters with 14 and had two aces, and Jessica Hile (Amberson, PA, Fannett-Metal)  had 10 assists.

Cedar Crest improves to 6-6 overall but is still 0-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Valley Forge is still looking for their first win of the season. The Falcons will next host a tri-match on Saturday, October 1st, with CSAC opponent College of Notre Dame and non-conference opponent Washington College. Cedar Crest will play Notre Dame at 11:00 AM and Washington at 3:00 PM. The two visitors will play each other here at Cedar Crest in the middle game at 1:00 PM.
