Allentown, PA - Cedar Crest hosted fellow Colonial States Athletic Conference institution Rosemont College and defeated them handily by a score of 3-0.
In the first set, the Falcons jumped out to a 10-3 lead and never looked back on the way to a 25-10 win. The second set was closer at the start, as the Ravens tied the score at 9-9 before Cedar Crest pulled away to win 25-14. In the final set, the Falcons led by as much as 15-9 before Rosemont rallied to get within three, but seven unanswered points during a rally with serves by Ericka Clayton (Zionsville, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) put the visitors away, also by a 25-14 score.
Clayton finished with 11 aces. Rebecca Grady (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) led all players with 13 killsand an ace, and had a hitting percentage of .550. Debra Lobien (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) had 29 assists and eight digs, and Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr) had seven kills and seven aces.
With the win, the Falcons are back to .500 in the CSAC at 3-3, and are 9-11 overall. Rosemont drops to 2-13 and are still winless in the conference after six games. Tomorrow, Thursday, October 11th, Cedar Crest will travel to nearby Moravian College for a non-conference match at 7:00 PM.
