Allentown, PA - In a battle of Colonial States Athletic Conference playoff contenders, Cairn University defeated Cedar Crest at home by a score 3-0.

The Falcons were knocked off stride right from the start with a bruising 25-8 loss in the first set. To their credit, Cedar Crest brushed that off and rebounded with a much stronger effort, although still a 25-20 loss. In the third set, the Falcons jumped out to an 8-1 lead on the strength of Ericka Clayton (Zionsville, PA/Allentown Central Catholic)'s serving, but could not get over the hump and lost 26-24. Clayton ended with four aces.

Rebecca Grady (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) led Cedar Crest with six kills, and Debra Lobien (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) had 14 assists. Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr) had 12 digs in the loss.

The Falcons are still in the hunt for a CSAC playoff berth and are still in control of their own destiny. Their next challenge is on the road at Cabrini on Thursday, October 25th, at 6:00 PM.
