Radnor, PA - The Falcons kept their playoff hopes alive but lost control of their own destiny with a 3-0 Colonial States Athletic Conference loss at playoff-bound Cabrini.
Cedar Crest initially didn't put up much of a fight, as the Cavaliers jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first set, with ten of those points coming with Cabrini's Sophia Sokolovich at the service line. The Falcons ultimately lost the set 25-11. The second set was much the same, with Cedar Crest opening up a meager two point lead which was overcome easily by the Cavs on their way to a 25-10 win. Only in the the third set did Cedar Crest seem to find their footing, going point for point with the hosts and forcing numerous ties and a few lead changes. Unfortunately, after a final tie at 17-all, Cabrini rattled off eight straight points to score the 25-17 victory.
Jessica Lobien (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) led the team in both kills and digs with three and seven respectively. Sister Debra Lobien (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) had six assists.
The Falcons end their regular season on the road at Notre Dame of Maryland on Saturday, October 27th, at 2:00 PM. They are still in the hunt for a CSAC playoff berth, but now need some help. A win over Notre Dame, coupled with a good showing by Marywood at Centenary (a Marywood win or even a 3-2 loss) on Saturday would give Cedar Crest the sixth and final seed in the CSAC playoffs, which begin Tuesday night.
