Reading, PA - On the road on Saturday for two non-conference matches at Penn State Berks, the Falcons came up empty in both.
In the first match, a 3-1 loss to Alvernia University, Cedar Crest played the Crusaders close, losing the first two sets by slim margins and winning the third. But Alvernia claimed the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth set. For the Falcons, Jessica Lobien (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) and Rebecca Grady (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) each had eight kills, and Grady had two aces. Ericka Clayton (Zionsville, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) had 17 digs.
Against the host Nittany Lions the results were more lopsided, with the Falcons losing 3-0 by an average of eight points a set. Jess Lobien had 10 kills and sister Debra (Lehighton, PA, Lehighton) had 19 assists. Clayton had 12 digs.
With the losses, Cedar Crest is now 7-8 on the season and remains 1-2 in the CSAC. The Falcons head north to Marywood University for a CSAC match on Monday, October 1st at 7:00 PM.
