The Falcons took to the court twice this weekend, first against the Marywood Pacers, and then the Keystone Giants.
In game one the Falcons and Pacers took to the court, both looking to make a leap in the CSAC standings. Â The Falcons would find themselves on the wrong side of the score falling to the Pacers 25-20, 25-12, 25-17.
For the Falcons
Celina Danish (Allentown, PA/Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts) would finish tied for a game high 25 assists, while
Rebecca Grady (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) and
Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr) both finished with eight kills a piece.
The team would also finish with 27 kills, led by libero
Ericka Clayton (Zionsville, PA/Allentown Central Catholic)'s 13,
Jessica Lobien (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton)'s five and
Chloe Ciraco (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle)'s four.
In game two the Falcons took the court at 3:00 PM against the Keystone Giants.
After both the Giants and Falcons both fell to the Pacers in three games, the Falcons and Giants both looked to turn their luck around.
The Giants would quickly jump out to a 2-0 lead taking game one and two 25-18, 25-23. Â But the Falcons, led by Head Coach Mary Rotimi had to put their foot down and take a stand for the home crowd. Â "The fans came out today, so we had to step up our game against the Giants" said Coach Rotimi "Our girl's knew they were better than the way they had been playing."
Rotimi and the Falcons would find motivation and and win games three and four by a combined three points winning 25-22 in game three and game four 25-23. Â
Tied 2-2 the Falcons and Giants took to game five. Â The Giants took a quick 13-8 lead as the Falcons would find their backs against the wall. Â But it would take a team effort to force a comeback and tie the game at 14-14. Â The Falcons and Giants would both force another point each and send the score to 15-15. Â But the Falcons errors would do them in as they would drop game five 17-15 and the game 3-2.
Danish once again led the Falcons in assists with 36 while three Falcons finished in double digit kills (
Jessica Lobien (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton),
Rebecca Grady (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch), and
Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr)). Â Clayton also finished with a team high 17 digs.
Overall the Falcons fall to 8-9 and 2-5 in conference play.
