Allentown, PA
Set One:Looking to turn their luck around, the Cedar Crest College Falcons volleyball team hosted Colonial States Athletic Conference rival Baptist Bible this evening at Lees Gymnasium.Â
In typical Falcon fashion, set one would be a back and forth battle as
Ericka Clayton (Zionsville, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) continued her excellent play while teaming with freshman
Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) and senior
Kiersten Collins (Forest City, PA/Forest City Regional). The battle would be back and forth up to a 6-6 tie when the Defenders of Baptist Bible would take control of set one. The defenders would roll out nine straight points before committing an error and allowing the Falcons to score to force a 15-7 score. After falling behind 22-14, the Falcons would start to put a run together and force the score to 23-18 before Baptist Bible would claim victory in set one 25-18.
Â
Set Two:In set two the Falcons saw themselves fall behind early 4-1 before an attack squad led by senior
Rebecca Grady (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) would push the Falcons back into the game forcing a 4-3 game.  With nearly three times the Falcons tying the Defenders, unfortunate errors by Cedar Crest would be the leading culprit in this match as the team found themselves down 17-10. The Falcons would battle back scoring 19 points in the second set but Baptist Bible would claim victory and a 2-0 lead as the two teams would head into set three.
Â
Set Three:Set three saw the Falcons jump out to a huge lead, thanks in large part to Grady, Martinez and
Celina Danish (Allentown, PA/Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts). There would be three lead changes and three ties as the Falcons and Defenders found each other a 10-10 lock. Once again the two teams would battle, errors by the defenders and kills by Grady would lead to a Falcons 17-14 lead before Baptist Bible would storm back to once again tie 17-17. Baptist Bible would go on a 7-2 run to push the Falcons to the brink, before an ace by
Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) would push the Falcons into the 20's. The Falcons would finish set three with that exact amount and fall in three sets, losing set three 25-20.
