In the consolation final, the Cedar Crest College Falcons took to the court against the Morrisville State Mustangs.
Â
In the first half, the Mustangs would strike first taking an early 11-0 lead four minutes into the first half.Â
Breonna Lewis (Abingdon, MD/Sovereign Grace Homeschool) would be the first Falcon to connect for the home team on a free throw forcing the score 11-1. Freshman
Miranda Schaeffer (Newport, PA/Newport) would then take a screen and find an easy lay up to force a 11-3 score and score the first field goal for the Falcons. Schaeffer would connect again from mid-range scoring her second basket in less than 40 seconds making the score 11-5. Over the next four minutes, the Mustangs would outscore the Falcons 6-0, but the Falcons would not whimper as they would continue to play tough defense, holding the Mustangs scoreless for three minutes.Â
Kayleigh Keggan (Blairstown, NJ/Belvidere) would contribute to the Falcons in the first half connecting on a mid-range jumper with 8:49 left in the first half. As a team the Falcons shot 21.4% from the field and 62.5% from the charity strip. Lewis led the Falcons with nine second half points and four rebounds while Schaeffer finished with four points. The Mustangs would be too much for the Falcons in the first half and finish with a half time lead of 39-17.
