The Cedar Crest College Basketball team took to the court for the final basketball game of 2014 as they hosted the Franklin and Marshall College Diplomats at the Lees Gymnasium Monday night.
The first half saw the Falcons open up slowly falling behind quickly in the first half before
Meaghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff High School) playing in her first game as a Falcon would drop one in for her first collegiate point. The Falcons would continue to fight back and forth against the Diplomats but would hit the locker room trailing 29-16. As a team the Falcons shot 28 Percent from the floor while connecting with one Free Throw from the line. Individually for the Falcons
Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) led the team in scoring with five points and two rebounds while
Miranda Schaeffer (Newport, PA/Newport) finished with five points and one rebound.
The second half saw the Falcons begin to storm back.Â
Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) and Gregory would hit back shots when needed while
Breonna Lewis (Abingdon, MD/Sovereign Grace Homeschool) and
DeJanet Lantion (Silver Spring, MD/John F. Kennedy) would battle in the paint for important rebounds and crucial points. After the initial push by the Falcons, the Diplomats would begin to push back. After coming within nine points, thanks in large part to connecting from three point range, the Falcons costly errors would show as errant passes and turnovers would prove too costly.Â
For the game,
Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) would lead the team in scoring as she would collect 11 points and four rebounds while
Breonna Lewis (Abingdon, MD/Sovereign Grace Homeschool) and
Miranda Schaeffer (Newport, PA/Newport) would add 9 apiece.Â
As a team the Falcons would shoot thirty percent from the field while adding 13 points from the bench. Â The Falcons would finish with a better shooting percentage thanks in large part to an impressive second half, out shooting F&M .309 to .254.
