Box Score
The Cedar Crest College Basketball team took to the court on Wednesday evening, but they did so without two regular players. Both Junior
Breonna Lewis (Abingdon, MD/Sovereign Grace Homeschool) and Freshman
Brittney Billmeyer (Danville, PA/Columbia County Christian) missed tonight's game to due other committments, but losing those two players didn't put any slip in the Falcons step.
Playing with four new players, the Falcons saw Selena Contreras, Jen Harbison,
Vivianna Samite (Oakridge, NJ/Jefferson Twp) and Erin Studer suit up and all get playing time for the Falcons.
The first half would be a bit of a struggle for the Falcons as the Falcons would muster only 18 points. Eight of which came from DeJanet Lantions stellar first half play.
Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) would garner three first half points while three Falcons would collect two total first half points. "We got outplayed in the first half" said Head Coach
Ty Taylor "We started off a little slower than we had hoped for, but we finally started putting shots together heading into the second half. The Falcons hit the locker room down by only 28-18 despite shooting just 29.2% from the field.
The second half would see an entirely different team. The Falcons would shoot 87.5% from the free throw line, accounting for 14 total points while senior
Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr), who was playing in her last home game as a Falcon, would collect nine of those shots for 16 second half points.
Kayleigh Keggan (Blairstown, NJ/Belvidere) would also claim double digit points in the second half as she would finish a perfect 4-4 from the line for 10 second half points.
Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) would drop in eight for the Falcons while Lantion would wrap the Falcons second half scoring up with three. "This was by far the best game we have played all year, losing Lewis for tonight we started off the game waiting for someone to make a play and everyone stepped up in a different way" said Taylor "I told them all after the game, words cannot express how proud of them I am, now we just have to keep the ball rolling into Saturday".
The Falcons would outplay the Lions in the second half finishing up 37-33, but would drop the nail bitter 61-55. The Falcons now sit at 6-18 overall and will wrap up regualr season and conference play when they travel to Baltimore, MD to play Notre Dame (MD). Game time is set for 1 PM.
