Box Score Set One:The Cedar Crest College Volleyball team entered their home opener of 2014 still looking for their first win of the season and would open up with energy not seen all season. The Falcons would open up set one with a furious run jumping up to a 8-4 lead. The pioneers would then push back and make it 9-11. The Falcons would then go on another run, ripping off five straight points and forcing William Patterson to take one of their precious timeouts.  That time out would prove effective for the Pioneers as they would run the score to 24-20 in their favor before finishing them off with the game point and take set one 25-20.
Â
Set Two: The pioneers used their previous run of 8 straight points to continue their hot streak into set two taking a quick 8-4 lead on the Falcons. The Falcons would fight back with two more points before they would fall behind 15-6. The pioneers would force two more points before the Falcons would be forced to take a timeout. That timeout wouldn't prove helpful for the Falcons as the Pioneers would run their score to 25-13 and wrap up set two.
Â
Set Three:Set three was a healthy surprise as the Falcons saw themselves jump out to 3-2 lead.Â
Ericka Clayton (Zionsville, PA/Allentown Central Catholic),
Celina Danish (Allentown, PA/Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts) and
Rebecca Grady (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) all dove, dipped, and jumped for every point they could. The Falcons would continue their hot streak and rip off four more points thanks in large part to digs from
Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) and
Kiersten Collins (Forest City, PA/Forest City Regional). It would continue to go back and forth as the Pioneers and Falcons battled for points. The Pioneers would play themselves back into the set and eventually take a 11-10 lead. After a Falcons timeout William Patterson would rattle off eight straight points and take an 18-11 lead. The Falcons wouldn't give up forcing another six points before William Patterson would close the door and the match taking set three 25-17.
