Box Score Frederick, MD- The Cedar Crest Soccer team was unable to tally another win to their record as they travelled to Frederick, MD to play against the Hood College Blazers.
In the first half, the Falcons allowed an early goal, when a miscommunication in midfield led the forward from Hood to run on to a neatly passed ball and slot it in the right corner in the 8
th minute. The Falcons would have a hard time finding an opportunity to strike back, as the Blazers kept running at the Falcons and creating a lot of opportunities for themselves. With the Blazers already slotting one, neither of the teams would find the nets before the end of the half.
The second half would be a rough one for the Falcons, as they allowed three more goals into the net early on in the half. The Blazers would score in the 50
th, 57
th, and soon after in the 60
th minute to expand their lead on the Falcons. Freshman, defender
Kelsey Snavely (Lititz, PA/Warwick) would step up to lessen the goal difference in the 72
nd minute, when she received a ball in the midfield and pummeled it into the back of the Blazers net. The Falcons would only get that goal for the day leaving the score at 4-1 at the end of regulation time.
After the game coach,
Sarah Wolcott said "Hood was a good, physical competitor. Communication was a major issue for us today. When we talked to each other and were all on the same page, we were fine. Today, unfortunately, we fell into several lulls of silence. We did do some things well on a surface in which we aren't accustomed. So we can take a few positives away from the game. If we did a better job talking to one another the game would have been much different."
With the loss, the Falcons fall to a 2-3-1 record, and will be on the road on Monday September 15
th at 4pm as they travel to Bryn Mawr PA to take on the Owls of Bryn Mawr College.
