Falcons Fall in Tough Loss to Cyclones



Hackettstown, NJ- The Cedar Crest College Basketball Team fell short at the home of CSAC foe Centenary College.

The Falcons started the game off strong, battling hard against the Cyclones, entering halftime trailing 21-33. The first half effort was led by Freshman Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff High School), who finished the half with 8 points, while fellow Freshman Shemeca Thompson (Bridgeport, CT/Warren Harding) came down with 3 defense boards.

In the second half Cedar Crest saw the game slip away to a relentless Cyclone offense, getting out scored by 27 points, and falling 38-77 when the final buzzer sounded. Breonna Lewis (Abingdon, MD/Sovereign Grace Homeschool) and Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff High School) led the Falcon offense, each scoring 10 points while Denyell Spingola (East Haddam, CT/Nathan Hale-Ray) dished out 5 assists in the effort.

As a team the Falcons collected 20 points in the paint, collected six points off of turnovers, while also connecting with nine second chance points.  The Falcons bench would also add seven points in the loss.

With the loss the Falcons fall to 3-13 overall and 2-6 in CSAC play.

The Falcons will return to the court in another CSAC showdown, on Saturday, January 31st as they travel to Brywn Mawr, PA to take on the Ravens of Rosemont College with tip off slated for 2pm.
