Falcons Celebrate Senior Day With Tough Loss to Immaculata

ALLENTOWN, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College soccer team took on another Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent on Saturday for Senior Day falling against Immaculata University 5-0.

"I was really happy with how hard we played today," commented Head Coach Sarah Wolcott. "I don't feel like the score was indicative of our effort. Immaculata had some good opportunities and finished and finished them. We didn't. And that was the difference today."
In the first half senior forward Courtney Long fired the first shot that soared just high. Sophomore midfielder Jackalyn Beckett took her chance but as the shot before she missed just high. Long had another chance that hit off the crossbar followed by another shot that went right over the crossbar. The Falcons had another prime opportunity but were caught offsides. The Mighty Macs capitalized scoring two back-to-back goals in the 28th and 30th minute and would make a 3-0 lead going into halftime.

In the second half the Falcons were stopped every way they tried, luck was not on their side as Long worked every angle of the field. Stepping up looking for finishes were senior back Kristen Spencer (Bangor, PA/Pen Argyl Area) who connected with her head on a corner that missed just wide, junior midfielder Allison Rittle (Fredericksburg, PA/Northern Lebanon) took a shot from the top of the 18 that went just wide and sophomore Kassandra Miller (Fallington, Pa./Pensbury Senior High School) fired two shots as one was blocked by a defender and the other was saved.

The Cedar Crest soccer team has its next game on Monday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. against non-conference Sweet Briar College for their Think Pink match.
