LANGHORNE, Pa. ---The Cedar Crest College soccer team traveled to Cairn University for a Colonial States Athletic Conference match in a 5-0 loss on Tuesday afternoon.
The Falcons held off the Higlanders for the first 30 minutes, with a solid attack as senior forward
Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) put the pressure on taking the first shot in the 6th minute misssing slightly wide. Sophomore defender
Caitlyn Mann (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) tested the keeper as her shot just before the 12th minute was saved. Sophomore midfielder
Jackalyn Beckett (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) took a corner for Cedar Crest in the 22nd minute that sophomore defender
Kelsey Snavely (Lititz, PA/Warwick) connected on sending the ball high. The Falcons were awarded another corner in the 23rd minute this time freshman midfielder
Kassandra Miller (Fallington, Pa./Pensbury Senior High School) would play the ball in to find fellow freshman midfielder
Ashley Heffelfinger (Allentown, Pa./Parkland High School) whos shot went wide. The opponent would score in the 30th minute to take a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Three shots presented themselves for the Falcons within a 30 second time frame, with all three missing the target wide.
Long took her chance in the 63rd minute with the goalkeeper making the save. Junior midfielder
Allison Rittle (Fredericksburg, PA/Northern Lebanon) had the final attempt for Cedar Crest in the 87th minute with a shot that went wide with the final score of 5-0.
The next game for the soccer team is Saturday, October 24 at 1:00 p.m. in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match agaisnt Neumann University.
