The Cedar Crest College softball team finally got back to the field after nearly two weeks off as they travled to Neumann University for a Colonial States Athletic Conference showdown with the Knights.
AIn game one,
Amanda Kustanbauter (Muncy, PA/Muncy High School) would toe the rubber for the Falcons in her first game back since the March spring training trip to Arizona. Â In her first April start, Kustanbauter would strike out two, while walking five. Â She would also force six fly outs and ten groundouts in game one. Â Kustanbauter would go the distance in game one pitching all seven innings while allowing just six earned runs. Â
On the offensive side of the ball, sophomore
Alexis Baxter (Clifton Springs, NY/Phelps-Clifton Springs) would claim the Falcons lone hit finishing 1 for 2 Â while classmate
Rachel Stump (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood) would finish with one walk. Â
The Falcons would fall in game one to the Knights 8-0.
In game two, Kustanbauter would toe the rubber for the first three innings for the Falcons, allowing just two earned runs while striking out one and allowing zero free passes. Â Kustanbauter would finish with two fly outs and six ground outs. Â For the final three innings, fellow freshman
April Daly (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross High School) would allow only three hits and one run on 42 pitches. Â Daly would also finish with one strike out.
The Falcons bats came alive in game two as
Jackie Gallagher (Fort Worth, TX/Keller Central High School) would lead the offense, going 2 for 3 from the plate while freshmen
Lily Acosta (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty High School) and
Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) would each collect one hit apiece. Â
Alexis Baxter (Clifton Springs, NY/Phelps-Clifton Springs) would finish game two with her second hit of the day, finishing 2 for 4 for the day. Â
As a team the Falcons would leave six runners on base, while also striking out six times. Â Game two would need to be called at six innings due to darkness and the Falcons would drop Game two 6-0.
The Falcons now sit at 2-2 in the CSAC and will travel to Marywood University Friday afternoon for a conference showdown with the Pacers.
