ALLENTOWN, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College soccer team opened their home Colonial States Athletic Conference schedule against Marywood University on Wednesday afternoon falling by a final score of 4-0.
"Today was disappointing for us," commented Head Coach
Sarah Wolcott. "We fell short, we needed to have a little more composure and play our game but never settled into our game. A highlight for us was
Caitlyn Mann (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) who did great for us in the back, she stepped up big and filled in where we needed her today."
In the first half the Pacers jumped out to an early lead, scoring in the first three minutes of the game. Senior
Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) looked to equalize in the half with a shot that just missed by the side corner, ending the first half with the advantage to Marywood.
In the second half, the Falcons couldn't quite keep pace despite the solid defensive efforts all around. Freshman goalkeeper
Shelby Szoke (White Haven, Pa./Crestwood High School) ended the afternoon with 13 saves.
The Falcons head to Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday, September 26 for a 1:30 match at CSAC opponent Notre Dame of Maryland University.
