Field Hockey Hold Wilson Scoreless in Second Half

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.--- The Cedar Crest College field hockey team traveled for a non-conference match at Wilson College with a score of 3-0 the Falcons would drop to the Phoenix Thursday afternoon.

"Overall the girls played well," commented Head Coach Kellina Yarrish. "They improved immensely the seconds half with great passing, communication and defensive strategies. With that combined we were able to shut down some of their key players and hold them scoreless for the second half."

In the first half Wilson College jumped out to an early lead scoring in the fourth minute. They would score two more times before the half, while junior midfielder Samantha VanBeers (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) had the lone shot for the Falcons in the first half.

In the second half, senior forward Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) fired off her first shot that the goalkeeper saved later Cedar Crest would be awarded a penalty corner taken by junior Priscilla Howell (Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg) which junior defender Rachel Stump (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood) unleashed a shot that was blocked. In the final minute junior midfielder Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) tried to get the Falcons on the scoreboard but unfortunately that too was blocked but they kept a clean second half defensively.
