ALLENTOWN, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College Falcons dropped their home opener on Tuesday evening as they welcomed non-conference Wilson College to Lees Gymnasium in the close, 79-71, defeat.
The Falcons trailed by five at the end of the first quarter, but came back to score 20 points in the second quarter to their opponents eight taking a 33-26 lead heading into halftime. The third quarter saw the visiting team return to the court refreshed with the quarter ending in their favor, 54-46. The teams matched each other for points in the final quarter as the Falcons now drop to 2-1.
Freshman guard
Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) had a team-high of 18 points while bringing down 13 boards for her first career double-double. Sophomore guard
Tenille Stewart (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) had a total of 16 points, teammate freshman guard
Sylera Weller (Lancaster, Pa./J.P . McCaskey) had 13 points and nine rebounds.
Senior guard
Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) had 10 points and six rebounds and led the team with five assists. In the post, junior
Shemeca Thompson (Bridgeport, CT/Warren Harding) had 12 rebounds and eight points as freshman forward
Sienne Kemmerer (Columbia, Pa./J.P. McCaskey ) pulled down 13 rebounds while scoring six points.
The next game for Cedar Crest is on Wednesday, November 30 with tip-off slated for 6:00 p.m. as they open their Colonial States Athletic Conference bid at Keystone College.
